Firstly, you need to understand what online advertisement is (Don't worry i will keep everything short).
Online advertisement is a form of advertisement that has to do with using the internet.

Unlike the Billboard, TV and Radio advertisement, online advertisement has a wider reach and that is everyone that has an internet connection.

So the question is who doesn’t have an internet connection now in Nigeria. With a population of 167 million and 56 million internet users as at December 2012, Nigeria is the biggest internet market in Africa.

So it’s simple when you decide to use online advertisement to promote your business you immediately have more that 56million people that you can advertise to.
But how can you reach a fraction of this people? That takes us to the next question.

2.  WHY OWNING A WEBSITE OR BLOG IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Create a website or blog. Though this is not mandatory but it’s essential if you really mean BUSINESS.
Website and blog can be quite effective in your campaign to increase your profits, infact it’s a basic key to success. But as I said before it’s optional.

Now how exactly can building a website or blog be of benefit to your business?
a. If you own a local business with a business address, not everyone can see your business as passersby may not recognize your existence especially if you don’t have a call-to-notice like a banner or billboard/signboard. So a website a very productive way to getting your customers attention cause you can “literally” put your business in there faces.

b. If you don’t own a business address or you work from home that gives you minimum exposure cause you need to actually tell people around you about your business and its restricted to the few people in your surroundings.

c. If your business is that which can attend to customers nationwide or even abroad then a website is compulsory for you. Unless you prefer being a CEO with leg-wagon.

d. A website or blog can hype the look of you local office.  Its designs are graphic in nature and you can practically create the aesthetics to your preference.

e. You can service your customers automatically, mostly, even in holiday periods .
After all these, you still don’t believe in creating a website or blog for your business then i don’t think I can be of much help to you.
The importance of a website or blog can’t be overemphasized, but does it end with just creating a website? Not even close…

3. WHY OWNING A WEBSITE IS NOT ENOUGH TO CREATE AWARENESS FOR YOUR PRODUCT AND SERVICES.

Believe it or not, many people own a website and yet there customer base hasn’t increased abit. Why?
It’s simply because your website also needs people to visit it. You cant just have a website and expect people to start going to your website automatically. It doesn’t happen like that. Unlike a business address, a website if far much more effective in getting you huge numbers of customers, all you have to do is advertise.

Yes, online advertisement is the key to your business success online. The good news is that there are loads of agencies and network that offers this and that kind of online advertisement but you have to know which one is best for you.

Let me quickly explain the type of online advertisement methods we have;
a. Display Advertisement: This is where you create and place banner or text on other site for the main purpose of linking to your site.

b. Online Classified advertisement: there are site and blogs like olx, tradestable etc that allows you to place banner and text on their site just like newspaper will allow you to place advertise on their pages, for a huge fee though. But some online classified ads are free and effective.

c. Social Media Advertisement: Get serious exposure with the tons of social media site like facebook and twitter by just registering for free. These sites can help you to promote your business for a small fee.

d. Search engine marketing: this a huge platform for exposure, site like Google or Yahoo can help you create huge awareness whenever someone searches for a keyword related to your business. E.g if you are into textile material, search engines can put up your website once anybody searches for anything related to textile.

e. Email marketing: this is where you collect email addresses from your site through a sign up form then later introduce other products or services within your business to your customer.

Many of these methods requires you have a website, but as you can see, owning a website is just step one, step two is using one or all of this methods to promote your site and your business.

You will have to set up all this method in an efficient manner to get your desired result. If not done proper you will not achieve your aim.
