Advertisement in Nigeria

Globally, advertisement is the only term used when announcing or creating notice or promoting a product or service or event. 
Overtime, this term has grown to become a very effective tool. From the ancient days when Egyptians used papyrus to make sales messages and wall posters, to today were outdoor advertisement and online advertisement are in vogue, the purpose of advertisement hasn’t changed, only the product, service and event.

The whole world is also going with this tide and Nigeria is keeping pace also. Advertisement in Nigeria has grown over the years to a more advanced method of advertising. As long as many are creating businesses everyday; small, medium or large, they will definitely require one type of advertisement or the other if they want to stay in business.



TYPE OF ADVERTISEMENT

Print Advertisement
Print advertising describes advertising in a printed medium, If an advertisement is printed on paper, be it newspapers, magazines, newsletters, booklets, flyers, or anything else that would be considered a portable printed medium, then its known as print advertisement.


Broadcast Advertisement
A mass-media form of communication including television and radio, broadcast advertising, previously, has been the most dominant way to reach a large number of consumers. The television commercial is generally considered the most effective mass-market advertising format, as is reflected by the high prices television networks charge for commercial airtime during popular events. Radio advertising is a form of advertising via the medium of radio. Airtime is purchased from a station or network in exchange for airing the commercials.

Outdoor Advertisement
This type of advertisement includes; billboards, Kiosks, Mobile advert, Trade-shows and Events. Billboards are large structures located in public places which display advertisements to passing pedestrians and motorists. Most often, they are located in areas with a large amount of passing motor and pedestrian traffic; however, they can be placed in any location with large amounts of viewers. However mobile billboards are in vogue now, they are generally vehicle mounted billboards or digital screens. The billboards are often lighted; some being backlit, and others employing spotlights. Some billboard displays are static, while others change.

Product Placement Advertisement
This is a more coded form of advertisement. it is the promotion of branded goods and services within the context of a show or movie, rather than as an explicit or outright advertisement of such products.


Online Advertisement
This is the widest form of advertisement. It has grown to a level that crosses boundaries and fortunately, it keeps growing, from social media adverts to online classified ads to email marketing to mobile advertisement, it’s just the coolest way of advertising for anyone who want a global reach.
